Reading Terminal Headhouse

Philadelphia, PA

Starting with space planning in what was the suburban train station, the Reading Terminal Headhouse Marriott was born. Formally the main waiting room, the space now houses “one of the most beautiful ballrooms in the city”—a comment by former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell at the dedication of the project. Developed from completely gutted space, we were able to find historic photographs and materials to inform us as to the details in the main waiting room. Custom designed lighting, floor patterns, moldings, and carpets give a sense the grandeur to the ballroom, pre-function, and meeting spaces. This project remains the guest of the train station, and when traveling by train meant to travel in style.
